With many decades of performing and teaching experience between them Andy & Jon present a fun action packed 5-day course covering all aspects of saxophone playing, from improving your sound & technique to playing in saxophone ensembles. With numbers capped at twelve you will have plenty of contact time with Jon & Andy, individually and in a group setting.

Composition 101
with Jon Rebbeck

This 4-night retreat is suitable for anyone that is interested in composing, whether a beginner with no experience or someone looking to develop their skills. Whether you are interested to write a classical piece, a jazz chart or a song, we look at ideas for creating melody, dig deeper into harmony, structure, scoring and orchestration. Three days from blank manuscript to a completed work ready for recording or performance! Limited to only 3 places.

Level: Able to read music, keyboard skills an advantage but not essential.

The world of Improvisation is presumed by many musicians to be mysterious and just too difficult, leaving you wondering how, and where, to make a start. Yet improvising in any genre can be very simple - and that’s where we are going to start.

This course is going to benefit anyone who has an interest in  improvising, whether a first time or an intermediate improviser. You will take your improvising to the next level with 5 days of intensive creativity under the guidance of two tutors ensuring a personalised musical experience to maximise your potential and enjoyment!

This course will benefit anyone with a keen interest in jazz, improvising and playing as part of a jazz ensemble.. If you have a basic grounding on your instrument then no previous experience of jazz or improvisation is necessary.

 

Perhaps you already play in a weekly big band or improvisation group. This is an opportunity to spend a solid week working at honing your skills and take that jazz solo with increased confidence!
