About the course
Jazz and Improvisation is presumed by many musicians to be mysterious and just too difficult, leaving you wondering how, and where, to make a start. Yet Jazz and improvising can be very simple - and that’s where we are going to start on this course.
Joining with other like-minded musicians in the relaxing environment of the French countryside we will explore a range of jazz styles, demystify the art of improvisation and look at how 'classical' theory is still very much applicable.
We adopt a very practical approach; we will introduce simple concepts and techniques to get you started. This course will boost your confidence and improve your existing skills as you unlock the door to a whole new world of creativity
Jazz and Improvisation has become a big part of both our careers, whether performing, writing or teaching, yet apart from some youth big band experience we were both classically trained, so this is a challenge we can both relate to very much and we look forward to sharing our decades of experience with you.
Although we happen to be saxophonists, don’t let that put you off, This course is open to all instruments and voice!
This course is going to benefit anyone who has an interest in jazz and improvising, whether a first time or an intermediate improviser. You will take your improvising to the next level with 5 days of intensive creativity under the guidance of two tutors ensuring a personalised musical experience to maximise your potential and enjoyment.
This course comes with some added features, it goes beyond the 5-day retreat as we will also offer you post-course support through the Music Retreats members area for 1 year following the course; included in the course price!
Only 12 places available, so reserve yours now!
We hope to see you there
