Tutor of Saxophone at the Royal Northern College of Music, Andy has designed specialist Sax Days and courses, whilst his many compositions are regularly performed worldwide. About the course
The Music Retreats Composition Course, directed by Andy Scott, is a great opportunity to develop your compositional ideas and musical imagination, in a creative and supportive environment. The musical ideas discovered during this five-day course will be of immediate and long-lasting benefit!
Andy will discuss different approaches to composing and share his experiences that range from being commissioned to write works that are scored for solo instrument through to big band, wind band and chamber orchestra.
Some experience of music theory and notation is required, with participants using manuscript paper and or music notation software such as Sibelius.
In addition to group sessions, all participants will have the opportunity of a one-to-one lesson with Andy.
Over the past 30 years Andy has developed his own musical path; a combination of composing, performing, instigating creative projects that combine notated music with improvisation, and devising and delivering his own educational projects. A British Composer Award Winner, Tutor of Saxophone & Visiting Tutor of Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music and founder member of the Apollo Saxophone Quartet (est.1985), Andy loves working with everyone that has a passion for music.
